Quiddler is a great game for people that like word games like Scrabble, Lexicon and Bananagrams.
The Challenge is to arrange your entire hand into words. Draw and discard on each turn. Try to use your high point letters, but don't get caught with them in your hand as they'll be counted against your score. You are dealt more cards with each round so opportunities for more or longer words are presented.
This is a great game for families as it sharpens skills like spelling, vocabulary and critical thinking. You can all decide what is allowable as a word and you can help others when they struggle to see possible words in the letters dealt, so it can be played quite gently and educationally. Or you can play it competitively.
It's a good game for holidays and travel too as it is compact, easy to play and good for 2-8 players ages 8+. You can also play with just one player. It takes about 35 mins a game.
There's a QR code on the back of the box if you prefer to watch a video of how to play.
This game has won many international awards as it is so good.
