These LED Night Poi are AMAZING - great fun with magical light effects, fun for young and old.
The Night Poi are two soft PVC balls that light up with LED lights. They have 7 different modes of lights that each look different at night and when spun around - red, green, purple, yellow, blue, white and pink.
The Pois (balls) are 8cms in diameter and have adjustable handles/string measuring 30-55cm with reinforced finger grips for good control. Simply turn the lights on and spin around. They are suitable for indoor or outdoors but look best when spun in the dark.
These poi come battery charged and they come with a set of batteries included, all ready to go.
The art of poi has long been practiced by Māori. The kupu (word) poi means both sphere (n), and to toss (v). It is an excellent activity to promote coordination, strength and dexterity and once mastered can be an extremely skillful art to watch. The poi is an important component of most kapahaka competitions.
They come in a soft material carry bag and make an unusual gift that will be appreciated by anyone that enjoys light effects, and the challenge of playing with and controlling balls.
These amazing Night Poi have been developed by Stella Haus a whānau business that is based in Ōtautahi, Christchurch. One of their founders, Katie is a big poi (kapahaka) fan and was amazed to find fire poi at music festivals in the 2000s. An increase in fire bans kept people safe from fires but stopped the expression of fire poi at these events. These LED Night Pois are just as incredible to play with and watch with no risk of fire.
Katie acknowledges "the indigenous origins, the tipuna creators and pioneers of poi Maori and all efforts to honour and retain the ways of those who lit the trail ahead of us."
They are amazing in the dark and will provide many hours of entertainment.
