This is a History of Aotearoa New Zealand in a clever tube map format.

From Prime Ministers to Māori prophets, suffragettes to Olympic athletes, legislation that confiscated land to the Waitangi Tribunal, this poster is a history of our nation over the last 200 years.

The version of this infographic map was created as a gift to a family member just beginning his career as a history teacher.

It has grown into a thoughtfully constructed infographic with 22 different themes and over 400 events, capturing a picture of our people, culture and society from 1830 to present day.

The clever Kiwi creators say "as with any version of history, the creation of this infographic has involved making decisions about what is significant and what to include. In deciding, we were guided by two questions: What are the major influences that have created Aotearoa in the 2020’s? And what are the important, but less well known, themes we could bring to people’s attention?"

They say this map is meant to be 'entertaining, informing, thought provoking and perhaps a starting point for people to go deeper and read King, Belich or Orange ?"(NZ history authors)

They encourage you to share your own history, explore an unknown theme, debate the events and people we’ve left off.

The map comes in an A2 (42 x 59.4 cm) and A1 size (59 x 84cm) and is unframed. But looks great framed in a plain white, wood or black frame and makes an excellent, interesting, thought provoking gift.
