These beautiful Te Reo words are underlined by Kowhaiwhai patterns, used in Maori art to decorate and also used to enhance stories and depict tribal linage. Kowhaiwhai was used to decorate meeting houses, monuments and canoes. It is an art form of great beauty but is considered to be of lesser importance than carving and tattooing.
The wooden words are light and easily attached to the wall (we recommend blue tack) where their strong silhouette makes a stunning wall display.
They each measure approx 29cm wide.
