These classic and fun flamingos are made from the original Don Featherston molds, still made in the USA.
The pink flamingo aesthetic trend came about in the 1950s shortly after WWII. At the time, the color pink was synonymous with class. The unique, elegant appearance of flamingos afforded them their popularity as wallpaper patterns, home décor, and lawn ornaments.
In 1957, Don Featherstone designed the first pink flamingo called Diego. He was a classically trained painter, a talented sculptor and artist, who became famous for creating the pink plastic lawn flamingo - the ultimate symbol of American lawn kitsch.
This decoration became an instant success, selling large quantities that eventually outnumbered the real birds present in the wild.
These flamingos with life-sized dimensions, add a unique charm to any lawn. The ornaments are made of plastic and feature raised plastic eyes and painted beaks. They stand up with two detachable metal rods for easy placement. Their height is 62cm and 45cm wide.
