Tiki or hei tiki is an ancient symbol created by New Zealand Maori. Traditionally they were carved from jade (pounamu) or bone and worn around the neck. The Tiki is kept as a treasured possession and passed from generation to generation as a good luck charm. Today the tiki has become a popular icon of New Zealand and is created in many different materials.
