This honey is from the Pacific Bee Sanctuary on Niue.  And it's very, very special.  It is pure, unprocessed and certified organic. Retaining all of the natural benefits and flavours as if it was being sampled directly from the hive. With a palate of malt and caramel, it's distinctive character impressed the judges at the world's largest and most prestigious honey awards - Britain's National Honey Show.

Not only that one of New Zealand's best chefs, Peter Gordon has put his name behind it as he loves the honey so much and also believes in the cause.

Honey bees around the world are dying at startling rates - up to 50% lost per year due to a host of causes collectively known as Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD). These include disease, pesticides and parasites like the bee’s worst enemy, the varroa mite. This poses a huge and world wide problem -  global food supply.

Niue could hold the answer to saving the world's bees. It turns out Niue's relative isolation made it a literal paradise for bees. Niue houses what are believed to be the Earth's last known sufficiently isolated disease and parasite-free Italian honey bees (Apis mellifera ligustica - the cornerstone of global pollination).

These bees were originally shipped to Niue from New Zealand, hence the rum bottle presentation which alludes to sailors and voyages across the Pacific.

Kiwi Andy Cory, known locally as the ‘Honeyman’, is widely considered one of the Pacific’s leading apiculturists and is a specialist in queen breeding has helped set up the Bee Sanctuary which may prove crucial to saving the worlds bees.

This delicious honey tastes delicious, plays an important role in helping to save bees and makes a wonderful gift.
