Artist and designer Claire Jensen uses a combination of new and waste materials to create decorative and functional artisan pieces for the home and garden. Wood, metal and glass are diverted from landfill, cleaned up from the environment and skilfully used to create quality art and design objects for further use and enjoyment.
She describes her birds as "folk art... These designs are often rustic and homely, though made to endure harsh conditions", she says.
The magestic Tui is shown in full flight. The beautiful fantail has a handpainted white Koru painted across it. The koru inspired by the unfurling fern leaf symbolises new life, growth, strength.
Both birds are hand made by Claire Jensen from exterior ply, paint and sealer so they can be hung indoors or outside in the garden.
They come in small and medium sizes. The small fantail measures 200 x 130mm, the tui is 260 x 200mm. The medium fantail is 260 x 150 while the tui is 370 x 260.
New to the range - Kereru with Nikau Berries, available in small and medium.
