This is a really stunning New Zealand childrens book written by Malcom Clarke.

It's rhyming fun story tells of a Tui and a Takahe both brave New Zaland native birds.  Tere the Tui loves to flit and twirl about in the sky, while the other prefers to rustle around in the undergrowth. Tu Meke Tui is a story of friendship, courage and discovering that sometimes it's our differences which make us truly special.

It is illustrated by Flox, a well loved Auckland artist known for her bright, bold grafitti art.  In Tu Meke Tui her trademark native birds, ferns and flowers are lush and gorgeous and make you want to turn the page to see her vibrant depictions of the bush and the birds and the other creatures in this delightful book.

This book makes a lovely gift for young children and their parents, alike.
